DOWA to begin construction of a new incinerator in Singapore

-- Doubling the capacity to promote the treatment of pharmaceutical and chemical waste --

DOWA ECO-SYSTEM CO., LTD. will begin construction of a new incinerator at Technochem Environmental Complex Pte. Ltd. (“TEC”, Republic of Singapore, Capital: S$ 3.5 million, President: Akio Yoshinari), a subsidiary which runs a waste treatment business in Singapore.

Singapore has been promoting the growth of pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Today there are a large number of major pharmaceutical companies from all over the world entering Singapore. While the amount of waste to be generated from these industries is expected to increase, the number of companies capable of treating this waste is limited. Thus, the treatment capacity is expected to be tight.

DOWA ECO-SYSTEM CO., LTD. entered Southeast Asia in 2009 and now runs Environmental Management and Recycling business in the four countries of Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and Myanmar. In Singapore, the business is operated at two bases. One is TEC, which provides waste treatment services with a focus on the incineration treatment of hazardous waste from manufacturers. The other is DOWA ECO-SYSTEM SINGAPORE Pte. Ltd., which engages in the recycling of precious metals and the provision of environmental consulting services.

As one of six major companies in Singapore with a license to treat hazardous waste, TEC possesses a distinct strength and advantage in the treatment of liquid waste, and has earned the trust of companies that place an emphasis on compliance. By constructing a type of incinerator appropriate for treating solid waste, and at the same time obtaining a license to treat pharmaceutical and chemical waste, TEC will nearly double the current waste incineration capacity and will be able to treat many different types of waste, including complex hazardous waste such as pharmaceutical and chemical waste, both liquid and solid. Taking advantage of the wealth of experience in treating complex hazardous waste that has been accumulated by the DOWA Group in Japan, TEC will start operating the new incinerator as soon as possible and begin strengthening Environmental and Recycling business in Singapore.

DOWA ECO-SYSTEM CO., LTD. will accelerate its business expansion and help solve various environmental problems in Asia, where economic growth is expected to continue.
