Nippon PGM America, Inc.

Development of Environmental Management & Recycling in North America

In 2003, DOWA Group established a new company, Nippon PGM, America, Inc., as a joint venture in New Jersey, U.S.A, which recycles platinum group metals, such as platinum, palladium and rhodium, from the catalytic converters used to purify automobile exhaust fumes.

The company processes used catalytic converters collected and delivered in the United States (the most automobile-intensive country) and assays the platinum group metals at that location, an operation that used to be performed only in Japan. This new plant has shortened the time that it takes for quality determination to approximately 1/4 of the previous time, enabling quicker processing and collection of the catalytic converters.

All of the used catalytic converters that are collected & analyzed are then recycled at the DOWA Group's Nippon PGM Kosaka Plant in Japan.
